| April 2008 Chapter Meeting |
| Date: Thursday, April 17 6:30 P.M. Networking Program presentation: Virtual Exchange Videoconferencing is like trying to talk to someone in the car beside you going 100 miles per hour…you can’t seem to understand why the other driver can’t “get the message!” And so you try even harder! Eventually you just give up and keep going full steam ahead without a clear understanding of where they are going, hoping that they will somehow get to the same place I am heading… eventually. Sound familiar? While videoconferencing has its problems such as slow response time due to bandwidth issues and the typical bland image of the presenter, it is certainly better than no image at all… isn’t it? Let’s not blame the technology! Let’s consider that maybe those of us using this medium may never have been trained on how to captivate the audience, how to engage in active conversation and exchange information in a way that is immediately applicable and memorable. When there are language barriers and cultural differences, it makes these objectives even more challenging. Virtual exchange is a program that maximizes the benefit of all forms of communication when the sender and receiver can’t be in the same room. Come to the April ISPI meeting to hear about how we can make these experiences more productive. Kimberly Lewis Hankins blends the wisdom of radio production with her knowledge of communications finally bringing us specific skills that create a captivating and memorable “virtual exchange.” Listen in and experience the difference immediately. |
